No account, no personal details

Checking a link

When you check a link, your phone does the work. To show you where a link goes and whether it looks safe, the app:

We do not receive or store the links you check.

Opening protected short links

Some short links shared with you are protected and open after a few short ads. When you open one in the app, the app sends the link's short code to our link server. The server records the visit, including your IP address, the approximate country it comes from, your device type and the time, so it can count views, stop fake or automated visits and give you the final address.

When you check a link that could be one of these short links, the app also asks our link server which addresses it uses. That request does not include the link you are checking.

Scanning QR codes

QR codes are scanned with Google's code scanner, part of Google Play services. The camera image is processed on your phone by Google Play services and is not given to the app. The app only receives the text inside the code. The app itself does not have camera permission.

Clipboard

The app reads your clipboard only when you tap Paste or Check copied link, and only to fill in the link.
